FairKeel

Terms of Use

Plain-English terms. If you use FairKeel you agree to these. If any of it doesn't sit right with you, please don't use the service.

What FairKeel is, and isn't

FairKeel is advisory only. It is not a marine survey. It is not a substitute for a marine survey. Do not buy a boat based on FairKeel output alone.

FairKeel reads boat listings, applies a 40-system forensic audit framework, and produces a structured opinion to help you decide what to investigate, what to negotiate, and what to ask the broker. Every snapshot is generated by an AI model from public listing data; it cannot inspect the boat, verify the seller's claims, test systems, or see the hull.

Before you put money down on any used boat, commission an independent marine surveyor of your choosing. Treat FairKeel as a tool that makes your survey more useful — not as a replacement for it.

How the snapshot is generated

FairKeel snapshots are produced by large language models (LLMs) and supporting web-fetching services. The models read public listing data, the audit methodology, and your buyer profile, then produce text. They can be wrong. Specifically:

We mark every claim in the snapshot with an evidence-quality tag ([H] / [M] / [L] / [?]) so you can see where the model is confident and where it's guessing. Read those tags. They matter.

The free snapshot

The free snapshot is provided at no cost as a sample of what FairKeel does. We may rate-limit, disable, or revoke access to the free snapshot at any time, for any reason — abuse, cost, traffic spikes, or anything else.

The paid deep-dive

The paid deep-dive costs $249 USD, charged via Stripe at the time of purchase. Your card is charged immediately. In return, FairKeel will generate and email you a full 40-system forensic report, a broker question pack, and a survey focus brief for the boat you specified. Generation typically takes under 15 minutes. The Wave 2 updated report is included — it is generated automatically after you paste the broker's reply into the link in your report email.

Refunds

If your report fails to generate — meaning you paid but received no report email within 2 hours — email us at support@fairkeel.com and we will either manually deliver the report or issue a full refund. We aim to resolve generation failures within one business day.

Because reports are generated by AI at the moment of purchase, we do not offer refunds based on the content or conclusions of the report. The analysis reflects what the listing and available evidence supports — it may not say what you hoped, and that is by design. If you believe your report contains a significant factual error (e.g. the wrong boat was analysed), contact us and we will investigate.

Refunds are processed via Stripe and typically appear within 5–10 business days.

Surveyor introductions

If we introduce you to a marine surveyor as part of a paid engagement, that surveyor is independent of FairKeel. You contract with them directly. We may receive a finder's fee from the surveyor for the introduction; this does not affect what you pay or how the surveyor reports.

Acceptable use

Intellectual property

The FairKeel name, logo, methodology, prompt designs, and snapshot output structure are owned by the operator of FairKeel. Your snapshot itself is yours — you may use it personally, share it with your surveyor or broker, and quote from it. You may not republish or resell snapshots, nor strip out attribution, nor use them as training data for other models.

No warranty

FairKeel is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, that errors will be corrected, or that any output is accurate, complete, or up to date.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FairKeel and its operator are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages arising from your use of the service — including but not limited to losses on a boat purchase, missed defects, failed negotiations, or any financial decision you make based on a snapshot. Your sole remedy if you're unhappy with the service is to stop using it.

If the law of your jurisdiction does not allow this limitation, then to the extent the limitation is unenforceable, our total aggregate liability is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim — or zero, if you used only the free snapshot.

Beta service

FairKeel is in early operation. Features, methodology, and output structure may change. Snapshots generated today may look different from snapshots generated next month. We may discontinue the service with reasonable notice.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, regardless of where you live. Any disputes that aren't resolved by emailing us first will be brought in the courts of the ACT — though if you're a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you the right to use your local courts, those rights are preserved.

Changes

We may revise these terms. When we do, we update this page and bump the date below. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised terms.
